The guidlines for the project
[Project 2] (30% Individual)
Project 2 asks you to work individually to the context set in the tutorials and lectures. The nature of the assignment and the exact audience will be negotiated in tutorials. The project you device should address an identified need and operate within a broader community, it should critically address production and distribution issues raised in the lecture/tutorial sessions, such as open source and social networks. This may sound vague but all will be made clear in the lectures/tutorials.
Requirements:
A: Final production,
B: Individual 10 minute class presentation of production.
Deadline: Monday 12th March 2007. CD Copy to Faculty Office.
[Documentation] (20% Individual)
Individual documentation of the development of your ideas and production work. This should be in the form of comprehensive website. It should be well designed and include appropriate support technologies (blogs, database, etc). The exact nature of the documentation can be negotiated in tutorials.
Requirements:
A: Individual online documentation.
Deadline: Monday 19th March 2007. CD Copy to Faculty Office

More for the project
Stuff like roll-overs on the buttons, maybe a bit more of a background.
The other thing would be to add some more detail to it, maybe some more facts about what alcohol does to your body, reinforce the message a bit more.
I'll do this tomorrow, got to go to work now!
Reasons behind the project
I'll write it out here too, make it easier to read.Raises drink awareness to young adults
- There is a need for this because drinking is becoming a larger problem.
- There are awareness programmes out there, but the majority seem to tell the user what to do instead of making it a fun and interesting learning process.
- This program aims to put the problems across in a more friendly way. For example, it suggests cutting down on alcohol consumption to save money. This relates directly at university students, a key group of the target audience.
- Target Audience: Young Adults, particularly university students.
- This could also be developed for a younger audience (15-18), as this is where the problem starts.
- Productions and Distribution: Most people have Internet access so this makes an online interactive program an increasingly accessible means of distribution. The only thing that would help this, would be advertisement.
- Another development for this would be to pair up with a larger well-known help organisation, such as Bupa.

Basis for the coding
New idea
Therefore, I moved onto the toping of drinking, and the weekly limits we are meant to put on ourselves. I thought I would make a program that lets you calculate how many alcohol units you consume within a week by entering how many drinks you have had during that week. I thought this would be an excellent thing for students as they are possible the nations biggest drinkers!
Here are some notes from my workbook about the layout ideas:

I also did some research about food facts, not as successfully as I would have liked:teentwist.com/Fun/randomfacts.html:

Almost finished! Woo
We're found this piece of coursework a challenge, although we are now very happy with what we have achieved!
This is the finished product:
Clicky!!!
If we had more time, we would have added the legends cards to the deck and tweaked with the interface to make it better!
Hope you enjoy!

Top Trumps
In the group there is:
- Louise Mertens
- Chris French
- Me - Emma Elliott
We thought this was a good idea as it is an easy way to give people an insight into our topic of world leaders. Usually world leaders is not seen as an interesting topic, so by making this game we hom we can bring more enjoyment into this area.
Top trumps is an excellent game for children too, so this game could be used to help introduce world leaders to children attending school as an educational game.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So far from our idea we have started the design process, trying to get as much information into such a small amount of space is starting to prove itself to be a challenge!
We're going to have a go at putting the flag of the country of the world leaders on the cards as a background. Hopefully this will give people another piece of information to latch onto to aid learning and understanding.
